Ultra-Etch is uniquely self-limiting in its depth of etch in dentin. This means it does not etch significantly deeper than 1.9 µm – even when left for a longer time. This creates ideal conditions for a strong adhesive bond and avoids defects which may result in tooth sensitivity (see opposite page). 1.9µm Clinical experience and FE-SEM evaluations2 show 15 seconds etch time on both dentin and enamel provides optimal conditioning of both tissues. Air/water rinse. Blot excess water off leaving surface visibly wet. Even finest lines can be easily etched. Using the Blue Micro Tip, Ultra-Etch is precisely applied from lingual without running. Ultra-Etch is proven to be self-limiting in its depth of etch, with an average depth of just 1.9 µm using 15 second etch. Liquid phosphoric acid and other etchants showed depths of 5 µm and more after the same period. This exceeds the optimum level and increases the potential for incomplete resin impregnation. !
