R E S T O R AT I V E PermaFlo as initial layer PermaFlo is exceptional for perfectly adapting composite fillings and masking discolorations. 1. Amalgam tattooed hard dentin in pulpal floor. With esthetic translucent composites, this color can show through the surface of the finished restoration. Dentin/enamel bonding agent has been applied. 2. Apply one or two thin layers (maximum 0.5 mm per layer) of PermaFlo "Dentin Opaquer." This provides excellent coverage and intimate bonding even to ragged cavities. Light cure each layer 20 seconds with quality curing light. 3. Restoration finished with Amelogen Plus. Finished restoration looks natural, because masked dark colors don’t show through. PermaFlo for pediatric restorations and micro-cavities Pediatric restorations call for quick and confident action. Use PermaFlo to avoid overtaxing young patients’ patience. Thanks to its high compressive strength, PermaFlo can also be used for small class I cavities. 1. Rampant caries in a three year old. 2. Slow speed and large round bur to remove all caries. Stain with Sable Seek to assure all of prep is in firm mineral dentin. (Compromise where close to pulp) Quality tissue management is an absolute must; a long #0 or #1 Ultrapak cord soaked in ViscoStat is packed first. 3. Etch all preparations and apply high-quality bonding agent. Use total etch rather than selfetch technique for these extensive preparations. Apply a thin first layer of PermaFlo intimately to the adhesive layer with the Micro 20 ga Tip and light cure. 4. Apply one or two additional increments and quickly finish restorations with finishing burs and abrasive cups. 5. Four years post restoration. 1. Small class I preparation treated with dentin bonding agent. Restoration is filled with flowable PermaFlo using the Micro 20 ga Tip. 2. Note unsurpassed adaptation of the flowable composite, as it fills from preparation floor up. 3. Finished, radiopaque, 0.7 µm hybrid restoration. Ultimate restorative seal! 66
