R E S T O R AT I V E VALO LED CURING LIGHT VALO convinces by a multiplicity of advantages to satisfy the needs of dentistry – for today and for tomorrow The Broadband LED Spectrum VALO is equipped with four LEDs with three different wavelengths covering a wavelength spectrum of 395 - 480nm. Campherquinone as well as Lucirine TPO and PPD that are used as photoinitiators in today’s light cured materials are covered. Research shows that even Campherquinone (peak at 468 nm) cures better using broadband LED.1 A conventional LED curing light emits blue light, most often in a spectrum of 430-480 nm. 405 nm 465 nm 465 nm 445 nm VALO’s four LEDs cover a range of 395-480 nm. Notice the differently colored spots; numbers indicate the peak of each LED. The Light Collimation VALO’s unique glass lens focuses the light emission and achieves a collimated beam. The result is an extraordinary homogeneous light spot, even in some distance – and thus a homogeneous cure. The columnar beam of VALO. The spreaded beam emitted by a conventional light guide. The Design VALO’s slim head offers big benefits in the mouth. Access to all tooth surfaces is no problem, light can be always emitted in the correct angle of 85°.With conventional light guides posterior use quite often is a challenge - and insufficient in depth curing may be the consequence. The slim head of VALO allows to reach all surfaces of the teeth – even difficult to reach spots. The angle of a 60°-light guide leads to an extreme opening of the mouth – or an insufficient cure. The Wand VALO is sleek and light – the wand’s weight is only 77 g. The aluminium body dissipates the heat produced, no internal fan is necessary. The wand has a solid, smooth surface which is easy to clean and disinfect. It is stored in a free bracket of the dental unit or can be custom mounted using the bracket in the kit. The wand of VALO fits in any free bracket of dental units. With a head even smaller than a toothbrush VALO can be handled like a stomatoscope. 1 RB Price et al.: Benefits of Using a Dual Peak Wave-length LED Curing Light. IADR Abstract ID# 72534, 2005 72
